Innovative front panel with embedded wires - a joint project with Covestro and Niebling

We at ruhlamat are pleased to announce an important milestone in an extraordinary cooperation project. Together with Covestro and Niebling GmbH Formtechnologie, we have developed a front panel in which wires are precisely embedded in a graphic film - a core element for innovative front shields of autonomous driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Our technology has already been presented at the Automotive Interiors Expo: We embed wires in a specially developed film, which is moulded under high pressure into a 3D component for vehicle exteriors or interiors.

The technologies behind the innovation

  • Covestro's Makrofol® polycarbonate provides durable and versatile design options for film insert moulding (FIM). At the same time, it opens up almost unlimited options for backlighting.
  • Niebling's High Pressure Forming (HPF) guarantees graphic precision and perfect 3D moulding for even the most demanding designs.

Together we create new standards: With this technology, precise and durable solutions for the automotive industry can be realised - with absolute design freedom.

A step into the future

This innovative front shield can be seen not only in our halls, but also in the application labs of our partners. Here we discuss process chains and next steps with our customers in order to drive forward development in the areas of connection technology, light integration and more.

Many thanks to everyone involved whose commitment and ideas have made this progress possible. We look forward to the next challenges and exciting developments!
