Innovative new office building with high energy aspirations!

Following the planning and the start of building work for the new office and administration building in 2007, the move into the new premises and thus the completion of the building will take place in September.

This is a four-storey building constructed on the basis of drafts by the Backofen & Seidenzahl firm of architects from Eisenach with technical implementation by the IPH Klawonn.Selzer firm of engineers from Weimar.

The special aspect of the building is the resolute use of energy-saving technology.
The majority of the heat required is covered by "passive" sources such as sunlight, heat given off by persons and technical appliances.
Opening windows have been dispensed with in the offices. Fresh air is provided via an incoming and outgoing air device with heat recovery.

According to Mrs. Selzer from the IPH firm of engineers in Weimar, the use of an air-geothermal heat exchanger enables pre-heating of the incoming air in winter and cooling of the outside air during the summer.

Optimum and ecological use is also made of rain water and solar energy!
The rain water is collected in a 14m³ cistern and then used for flushing the toilets, whilst photovoltaic modules convert the solar energy into electricity before it is fed into the public electricity grid.

The new office building fulfils the requirements of a passive house and is further evidence of the innovative and efficient thinking and work of ruhlamat® .
