Formation of the subsidiary company ruhlamat AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGIES (SUZHOU) CO., LTD. in Suzhou (PR China) to ensure intensive market and customer servicing. It offers a product spectrum for the regional market that is comparable with that of headquarters. With a staff of 25, this company has already reached breakeven.

Development of a modular component system for the production and assembly of precise mechanical components.

Completion of the world´s first fully automatic installation for wrist watch assembly. This installation is used to produce the legendary pin-pallet work "Caliber 24" that was built into approx.  120 million watches.

Formation of an independent "Automation" derpartment in the „Uhren- und Maschinenfabrik Ruhla“ with the aim of developing equipment for automatic watch-making.
